Seborrheic Dermatitis

Seborrheic Dermatitis: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment, and a Formulation for Relief

Introduction.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic skin condition characterized by red, flaky, and itchy patches of skin, often found in oil-rich areas such as the scalp, face, and chest. Though not contagious, it can significantly impact quality of life. This article discusses the causes, symptoms, treatments, and a 200 ml solution formulation to help manage seborrheic dermatitis effectively.

Seborrheic Dermatitis

What is Seborrheic Dermatitis?

Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory condition linked to an overgrowth of Malassezia yeast, which thrives in oily areas of the skin. While its exact cause remains unclear, factors such as hormonal changes, stress, and weakened immunity play a role in its development.

Symptoms of Seborrheic Dermatitis

Red, inflamed skin.

Greasy or yellowish scales on the scalp, face, or chest.

Persistent itching and irritation.

Flaking (often mistaken for dandruff).

Treatment Options

Management involves a combination of medical treatments, natural remedies, and lifestyle adjustments:

1. Medicated Treatments

Shampoos containing ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, or zinc pyrithione.

Corticosteroid creams like clobetasol for inflammation.

Antifungal creams with ketoconazole or ciclopirox.

2. Natural Remedies

Tea Tree Oil: Known for antifungal properties.

Aloe Vera: Helps soothe irritation.

3. Lifestyle Tips

Regular cleansing with gentle products.

Managing stress with relaxation techniques.
